Concert will benefit Lake Superior

The Boreal Chamber Symphony will play its second concert as part of 'Concert for Lake Superior', to be held at Upfront and Co. in Marquette, Michigan, on October 18, 2009.    Doors open at 6 PM and the program itself begins at 7:00 PM.    This fall's program includes the Septet version of the famous Jean Sibelius tone poem 'En Saga'.     Sibelius first wrote chamber ensemble-sized versions of 'En Saga' before the well-known orchestral version was first play in the mid 1890s.     Also on the program will be Steven Heitzeg's 'Madeline Island: Sanctuary in Blue' for string orchestra and percussion, originally composed for the Madeline Island string camp in 2005.      Moderated by well known TV6 meteorologist Karl Bohnak, the program also features jazz and an art auction.
